About St. Vincent de Paul Parish

St. Vincent de Paul Parish was established by Bishop John Franz on July 1, 1962. This new parish was named in honor of the Congregation of the Mission priests founded by St. Vincent de Paul. Bishop John Franz appointed Father Robert L. Livingston as the first pastor of the new parish. The parish began with a school to provide a Catholic education for the children of the parish. The school opened in September, 1962 with 300 students. For many years the school gymnasium and cafeteria served as the place where Sunday Masses were held. After worshipping for thirteen years in the school, a decision was made to build a church in 1975. The church’s first Eucharistic service was held on the feast of St. Vincent de Paul on September 27, 1977 and was then dedicated by Bishop Edward O’Rourke on October 30, 1977. Today, St. Vincent De Paul Parish continues to be a vibrant community of over 1600 families.

Our Mission Statement

St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Congregation is a vibrant Christian Community within the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, Illinois. It is our role within the local Church to assist the Bishop and his administration to teach, govern, and sanctify the People of God within our membership. This task, given to us by Christ Himself, may be institutionally accomplished in three ways:

  • By community celebration of our rich heritage of prayer developed over the centuries within the Roman Rite of the Church.
  • By the proper celebration of the seven sacraments given to us for our sanctification.
  • By the faithful education of our youth into the doctrines and practices of the faith.
