Ushers

Ushers great people as they walk in the doors of the Sanctuary. At Masses with large attendance, they may also assist in finding seats for those attending Mass. Ushers then take up the collections during the offertory. At the end of Mass they make sure the pews are in order. Greeters

This role is crucial to making new or returning parishioners feel welcome at St. Vincent de Paul. All you need to do is be a smiling happy face when people walk through the doors. If someone has a question, you are there to help them and make their experience at St. Vincent de Paul as positive as possible. Interested in getting involved in this way? Liturgy

A vital part of our Parish is participating with our God as his Body. He calls us with unique gifts and talents. He has called us into the Church for the purpose of being the Body of Christ.

Music

There are several musical groups that assist at Mass.

Traditional Choir: The traditional choir typically sings at the 9:00 am Mass on Sundays and uses a more traditional collection of hymns accompanied by the organ. Practices are generally Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm in the School Music Room.
Joyful Noise: Joyful Noise, a more contemporary choir, typically sings at the 11:00 am Mass on Sundays and uses a more modern selection of music accompanied by guitar and piano. Practices are generally Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm.
Cantors: Individual cantors are used on occasion, sometimes to lead the responsorial psalm at Mass or to sing for a wedding or funeral.
Other musicians: If you play an instrument, we would like to hear from you! We have sometimes incorporated other instruments into certain Masses, such as the flute, violin, and trumpet. Other pianists and organists are also needed, especially to fill in when one of other musicians are not available.

The Elizabeth Ministry is designed to support women and their families during the joys, challenges and sorrows of the childbearing years. We offer prayer and blessings, direct service, peer support, mentoring, educational materials, spiritual nourishment and inspirational resources.

We are currently offering the following services to expectant mothers in our Parish:

Prayers offered up for you by your personal Prayer Partner.
A delicious home-cooked meal delivered to your home after your baby is born.
Email prayer support.
Support, reassurance and advice, as needed, by your Prayer Partner.
Resource information for families with special issues.

We are here for you throughout your journey. Our goal is to affirm, support, encourage, and assist women in response to their needs during the childbearing years.

St. Vincent de Paul Young Adults Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month in the Parish Hall. They do a variety of activities both social and spiritual.

Walking With Purpose – Enabling women to know Christ through Scripture.

Walking With Purpose is a Catholic women’s Bible study that aims to bring women into a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ by offering personal study and small group discussion that link our everyday challenges and struggles with the solutions given to us through the teachings of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church. We offer two sessions, both with the same content. The Wednesday morning session will meet from 9:30 – 11 am. The Wednesday evening session will meet from 6 – 7:30 pm. Check the Bulletin for more information on our sessions.

The St. Vincent de Paul Men’s Club’s mission is to promote the spiritual, social and economic welfare of the St. Vincent’s de Paul Parish, School and Pre-School, while building a strong, Christian camaraderie among the Men’s Club’s members and the Parish and School community. We carry out this mission through volunteer activities, financial donations and social events.

Volunteers help families who are grieving the loss of a loved one by assisting with a luncheon for the family. Funeral luncheons take place in the parish hall after a funeral Mass. Some volunteers help by preparing a dish for the luncheon which they drop off. Other volunteers help during the luncheon by setting up and serving the food.

Learn more about our faith by meeting monthly and discussing Catholic literature. Join us one Tuesday a month in the Professional Development Room of the school at 10:30am. Bring a friend! Please call Terry Burroughs 309-691-6396 for more information.

Inspired by Gospel values and in the tradition of its patron saint, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul leads people to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are keenly aware that poverty, suffering and loneliness are present for many in our community. We strive to not only meet the immediate needs of those we serve, but also seek to collaborate with others to address poverty’s causes.

Our teams visit the needy in their homes to understand each situation. We provide referrals to community resources, pray with the family, and provide financial assistance in paying outstanding bills. We usually take food and household / personal products on each visit.

You can donate to the Society through the “For the Poor in Our Community” envelope included in the monthly envelope package. 80% of this collection is given to the Society by the parish. We also collect household and personal care products look for our insert in the parish bulletin weekly for what we need and place your supply donations in our grey bin in the church lobby.

Peoria LifeTeen: The purpose of Peoria Life Teen is to GUIDE high schoolers to a deeper relationship with Jesus, CONNECT them with a Catholic community, NOURISH them with the Sacraments, and EQUIP them to be lifelong disciples.

We are a collaboration between the parishes of St. Ann, St. Thomas, and St. Vincent and welcome all high schoolers. Life Nights are generally held the first Sunday of the month from 6-8pm at rotating parishes. Fill out this google form to get on our email list!

Totus Tuus: Totus Tuus is a one week summer program for youth entering grades 1-12. It is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith while having FUN! Watch the bulletin for upcoming dates.

The mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Women’s Guild is to provide spiritual, social, educational, and financial support to both the parish and school. We provide these opportunities through retreats, social activities, sponsorship, and fundraising events.

In addition to providing support, the Women’s Guild strives to foster a sense of community among the women of the parish and school. Our goal to create a source of friendship and fellowship for all women. All Guild activities are open, and attending events is an excellent opportunity to meet other women in the parish as well as to learn more about the Guild. Women’s Guild Board meetings are held in the school music room on the second Tuesday of each month from 6 to 8 pm.

Our Homebound Ministers are trained Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. They are on a schedule or available as needed to visit the sick and elderly, pray with them, and give them Holy Communion.
