"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good off the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ." (CCC, 1499)
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is celebrated communally twice per year. Those who have a serious illness, chronic or acute, and those preparing for surgery are invited to come forward and be anointed. Priests also anoint our home bound parishioners and those in hospitals. If you or a loved one are home bound or hospitalized and wish to receive this sacrament please call the parish office. If you are scheduled for any type of surgery you may call the parish office to schedule a time to be anointed before that surgery takes place. If a loved one has been called home to God the Catholic funeral assists those who mourn in commending the soul of the departed to the mercy of God.
If a loved one has died the funeral home will work with you to make the arrangements to have a Mass of Christian burial in our Church. A funeral luncheon for parishioners can also be arranged and is served by the funeral luncheon society. Pre-planning funeral arrangements has become a common practice.
